A few months ago the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic held a photo contest to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the CSS Acadia. About a month before this contest, Darlene and I went on an evening harbour cruise on the Tall Ship Silva. This ship means a lot to the both of us as we were married on the Silva. Of course I had my camera with me.  I didn’t really expect to get much in the way of good photos due to the fact that the light was fading fast, and any photos that I may take would be hand-held, and on a moving vessel on the water. For the most part I was correct about the photos. CSSAcadiaOne of the few that did turn out was a photo of the CSS Acadia docked by the Halifax Water Front as seen from the Silva as we set sail. Of the photos taken that evening this was one of my favourites, so when I heard about the photo contest I decided to enter this particular photo. The contest ran for quite a while, so I actually forgot about it. On October 16, 2013 I received a message stating that I had won the contest.

I could not believe that I had won, as there were many worthy images entered in the contest.

I am truly honoured to have been selected, and wish to that the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic for choosing my image as the winner.

Love the Light!
